HOW TO CONTEND FOR CONSTANT COMMUNION WITH GOD IN EVERYDAY LIFE

INTRODUCTION 

God has given us the invitation to invite Him into all of our day and all arenas of life. We can have constant communion with him in all the activities in our day, and here are 14 practical ways to meet Christ in your daily activities.

1) IN CORPORATE PRAYER

2 Chronicles 7:14-“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Jeremiah 33:3- ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'

Meet as a staff every morning and adore the 4 Faces of God together (Hartley Institute Prayer Model)

2) WITH PEOPLE

In personnel decisions, hiring, firing, relationships, recruitment, meeting agenda, improved relationships in the Marketplace or Life

Philemon 1:6-8“Enjoy those who have the Knowledge of God in them.”

Gal 4:19  “Christ in you – and see Him in them.”

Think about how you have heard the voice of the Lord thru each person – stop and write it down and then get with one or two others and share. Go through the grid of 14 questions together and ask the questions for a person who you encounter on a daily basis.

3) AT WORK

Biblical Purpose

  1. “Our #1 Reward is the pleasure of God.” – Colossians 3:22-23: Work unto God…Where your treasure lies, there your heart is.

  2. “God Rested from His play—creative endeavors called work.” – Gen. 1: Meaningful work, Saw that it was good & was not tired from it… Play flung out universe / Created animals / Man is His handiwork / Command, “Be fruitful & multiply…”

  3. “Do the will of God from your heart.” – Eph. 6:5-8:Slaves serve whole-heartedly unto the Lord. Not man’s reward for what good one has done in their work. / See more & bring order… / Learn Bob’s 10 things…

  4. “See many faces of God!” – Psalm 24:6-10:See the King of Glory with such pleasure!

  5. “The unsearchable riches of God.” – Ephesians 3:8

How would you do this? Research scripture, take me to a passage applies to this work that I am doing. Spirit of might…gleaning in the field / raise cattle / teaching (scriptures_________)

  1. Dialogue and Journal

  2. Note card in my pocket from ACTS, which I will describe for my specific work what Forgotten Face of God I discover…

OUR SUSTAINING GOD-BIBLICAL PURPOSES FROM OBSTACLES OR PROBLEMS

“Teach us how to see and to lean on Him” 

“Teach us how to lean.” – Psalm 55:22: He will sustain us with a peace that past understanding (Philippians 4:8). The Lord tells us to cast our burden upon Him.

  1. “Teach us to magnify the Lord more deeply and truly.” – Psalm 34:7: Magnify the Lord, Oh my soul versus the issue– Wow. Helps thoughts go from “Dusty Cabin” to palace filled with thoughts of God   vs. magnifying the problems.  Speak Psalm 34 – Your face shines radiantly.

  2. “Teach us how to dwell on what’s good with strength / purity / holiness / excellence / being of good repute / praise worthy.” – Philippians 4:8

  3. “Teach us to learn that He is a very present help in time of need when our feet are in the miry clay.” – Psalm 40:2-4: He desires to put a new song of faith, joy and trust in our hearts / to turn our greatest defeats into our greatest victories.

  4. “Teach us to learn by faith to see opportunities vs. obstacles.” – 2 Chronicles 12:32: We must listen to God and not see them as obstacles, but opportunities.

  5. “Teach us not to judge according to our own initiatives, but according to Father’s heart & mind.”

  7. “Teach us to be filled with faith & love in hearing His heart for other people.”

  8. “Teach us to keep our composure.” – Ecclesiastes 10:4: One with composure calms many. Maintain          composure.  Don’t loose heart, flail or react.

  9. “Teach us how to plead a strong case when we are hurt and vulnerable.” – Isaiah 43:2

  10. “Cry a loud when adversaries attack.” – Psalm 77:1, 142:1 / Proverbs 2:3: God delivers / Cry in the street for wisdom.

  11. “Teach us that when He has tested us, we come forth as gold.” – Zechariah 13:9: Thank Him for when you are afflicted – you will multiply under the pressure / Ex 1:12 – I’ll (we’ll) come out stronger.

  1. What does God’s Word say? Turn it into a conversation and believe God's Word is true.

  2. Always I first give thanks for issue – I Thess. 5:18 in all things give thanks (not giving thanks/breaks communion) Romans 1 – embrace it.

  3. Declare James 5 – God’s wisdom is from above is first. God pure and peaceable…full of good fruit. Romans 8:38 all good abounding love / Ecc. 7:8 end of matter better than beginning

  4. Write or speak His word and Who He is out loud no matter what! He puts His words in my mouth) – Deut 8:38 / 18:18 / Nu 22:8 / Dt 30:14 – discussion with Him… (Not me in my doubt but me in Him. Speak to him and answer…see it whole different way (victory God) remember Ps.90 – tender

  5. Journal/Poems about problem’s Psalm 45 – dwell on what’s good. Do not keep worrying in your head.

  6. Shout aloud or speak in the mirror and role play with God.

  7. Lead a strong case (Isaiah 43:26).

  8. Pray in tongues with interpretations (1 Corinthians 12).

Our  God, Who is Greater

5) WHILE RESEARCHING, STUDYING AND READING FOR BUSINESS

Proverbs 6 – Solomon example: Go to the ant. Go learn from life.

As you study, research or read about a particular subject, dialogue with the Lord about what HIs thoughts are about this subject and journal His response.

Biblical Purpose for Education

To learn the nature of God in Truth, Wisdom, & Hearing Him 

  1. “Study to show yourself approved.” – I Tim. 2:15:Do this with business related materials, so whether you’re in scripture or other literature you’ll be able to find God.

  2. Proverbs 6 – Solomon example: Go to the ant. Go learn from life. /

  3. Moses – Train Egypt (business)

  4. Luke 1:18 are Berean’s who are – Appreciative of truth but discerning so you can see if it stands as true… Proverbs.

  5. Daniel 1:17 – studied under the Babylonians and excelled / wise in all forms. Open up my understanding, gives language & context to personal discoveries and feelings in you and learning.

  6. Ps 82:6 – God speaks among gods…authors – speak in nations.

HOW TO COMMUNE WITH GOD

  1. Dialogue with God… What’s your heart?

  2. Proverbial Hebraic focus. Gen; Tree of Knowledge of good or evil…

  3. Where does it come from? How you apply it.

  4. Ask Him to hover and cover… Oh God, I must have your help… Your Arms around me – because of His nearness (teach me / speak in my ear).

  5. What truth does it reveal about you!

6) WHILE MANAGING MONEY

Biblical Purpose of Money

  1. TOOL OF STEWARDSHIP

  2. Those faithful with little will be given much / Parable of steward – faith & love tool to reproduce well of others, creative & not bury but ask, wait and hear.

  1. TOOL OF LOVE

Unbelievable currency of love / Is 58 – make friends with unrighteous mammon care for other’s soul; need join in with other love partners… not fear or hoard

  1. TOOL TO SPAWN ANOINTED ACTIVITIES 

Ecclesiastes 10:19 – money answer to every thing. Gets anointed people together; anointed activity.

  1. TOOL OF BENEVOLENCE

Dedicate ways and heart to see somebody. Is. 60:1. The wealth of the nations.

  1. Declaration of Gods Ways & Wisdom

Giving – Isaiah 60:11 How to order your financial world?

Kings proceed treasure – would future thought leaders of the nations were fighting to see who could meet needs first.

HOW TO COMMUNE WITH GOD

  1. Hear His heart from heaven; ask the Lord to draw you closer and how steward these resource. Ask Him what His heart is for resources.

  2. On Sundays – Review time with Him, His heart for our priorities & we ask daily, “Will this please you?”

  3. Donation / Capital expenditure… How to partner with God in benevolence.

Our God of Stewardship & Ownership – those faithful with little will be given much /  Parable of steward – faith & love tool to reproduce well of others, not bury but ask, wait and hear. Deut 8:18- God creates wealth…

Adore the God of Supply and ask Him about new rich veins for you in this season.

Get counsel and pray together!

7) WHEN NEGATIVE THOUGHTS INVADE LIFE & BUSINESS 

Develop Constant Communion when negative thoughts invade business and life.  We’re so often bombarded with doubts and fears (Revelation 12).

Negative thoughts give us the opportunities to:

  1. Give thanks and remembrance for the promises. I Thess. 5:12, 18

  2. Ps 24:3/ Psalm 55:22 – magnify the Lord vs. the negative issues

  3. Release praise and rejoice. Think on pure and uplifting things. Phil. 4:8

  4. 2 Chronicles 12:32Hear God and get more focused /Testing turns your faith to gold. / Cultivates strengths

  5. Celebration – kids dance on their problems.Become and “Artist of Celebration” all thru the day. The worse it     gets, the harder you celebrate!

  6. Phil 1:28 – don’t be alarmed means destruction for opponent

  7. Declare God’s Ways – Mt 10:32 God’s goodness situation

HOW TO COMMUNE WITH GOD

  1. We throw a party! (family issues) / Ps 149:6 / II Chron 20 Praise Him and celebrate!

  2. Laugh of love – with my wife (issues)

  3. Speak to God / God back to me

  4. Journal your feelings and/or write a poem

  5. Great Key: Pray with others who have faith in those situations or for people. Job 42:10 / Gal 6:1 / Ecc 4:10

  6. Isaiah 36-37 – Seek God’s nature and purpose

8) WHILE EATING TOGETHER

Express love for God, each other.

SOS 2:4 – The Banqueting table.  He took me into banqueting hall and His banner over me is Love. The purpose of this setting of eating a meal together is about the discovery of God in His Love.  This is the place where He gives you vision of His heart for you & your heart for Him.

Celebrate & Remembrance – The Feast

Leviticus 23:33- Commanded Feast

Esther 1 – Feast of remembrance, thanks, & celebration

Luke 22:19 – Reflective communion, & do this in remembrance of Him 

The Place of Thanks & Communion

Exodus 25:23 – The Table of Showbread –Reclining in love .

HOW TO COMMUNE WITH GOD

We give thanks for who He is and what we’ve walked out with Him.  Then we see Him in the midst of our fellowship.  We look for the forgotten faces of God thru one another. Then we ask questions aimed at thanksgiving/celebration/released love: 

 Areas at the table we are thankful for.

  1. About Jesus – His Person

  2. For one another – family – how each individual is a reflection of God and in God / our call

  3. Our history together as family

  4. Our day’s activities thankful

  5. Our upcoming events

  6. Role play around the dinner table with different people.

SOS 2:4 – The Banqueting table.  He took me into banqueting hall and His banner over me is Love. The purpose of this setting of eating a meal together is about the discovery of God in His love.

Take turns around the table with different people and give 2 thoughts of appreciation: for God and for one another

9) WHILE CELEBRATING PERSONAL & BUSINESS HOLIDAYS, BURTHDAYS, AND ANNIVERSARIES

Biblical Purposes

Lift value of others / Phil 2:1-4 – prefer others; see His value in them…

Appreciate Him, His promises, His history and others / Matt 25–cup of appreciation (water, same to weary soul) That’s what stopping & appreciating others does.

  1. Builds community in God

  2. Release insights into greater purpose – see pieces of the puzzle in different ways. Build faith and reminds them of His goodness.

SCRIPTURAL PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

HOW TO COMMUNE WITH GOD

Write all scriptural ways to celebrate & love and what to celebrate about (new birth, birthdays, Thanksgiving, baptisms, graduations, etc). Keep it all written in notebooks / 3 Ring-Notebooks, godly purpose to _________.

  1. Commemorate Jesus in them – Focus on seeing Jesus in people. Look deeper & deeper still!

  2. Ask Jesus for creative ways to love – will come forth.

Business Applications

  1. Paper plate awards yearly – reflect on our history /

  2. Remember B-days; opportunity to value who He is in them

  3. Anniversaries of employees

 Lift value of others / Phil 2:1-4 – prefer others; see His value in them…

Appreciate Him, His promises, His history and others / Matt 25–cup of appreciation (water, same to weary soul) That’s what stopping & appreciating others does.

Ask for a specific scripture or Psalm for them, for a story, poem or song for the individual that is being celebrated, that celebrates their uniqueness. Kings require love hope and appreciation to fulfill their calling!

When with employees we mentor and developing those who serve.

SOS 1:8 – when they are challenging, teach of His heart, faith & patience regarding His promise

Ps 128:3 – children are a reward… How they reflect Him… And

Ask questions of the Lord for them, how much He has secured their future, how much they are more than enough for the challenges of the day, how beautiful they are to Him, etc, then share what the Lord says with them.   Have them ask questions to learn to hear His voice as well. You can ask questions regarding the 8 P’s: (Purpose & Prayer / Plan / Procedures / Profitability / Projects / Public Relations / Personnel)

10) IN MARKETPLACE CONVERSATIONS

Ps 45:1 – “my tongue is a pen of a ready writer.”  Be listening and asking questions.

Matt 10:32 – “confess me with your mouth.”  Bring to the Lord the fulfillment of conversations. 

Assign them with a Psalm or passage that applies to them. Ask them to get a verse out of the passage and say how it applies for them daily. Let your speech be edifying and pray without ceasing!

11) WHILE DRIVING YOUR CAR TO WORK

Biblical Purpose

Know God in All of Life / Adoration / Remembrance

  1. Deut 6:5 – teach your children / bind truths to your heart as you go, doesn’t He? The point is He teaches us as we go… About creation / cities / people / cultures / Place I’m going / Divine appointments

  2. Elisha as he went behind the ox (traveled). He heard…

  3. Acts8:26-40 – Phillip encounter the eunuch in his Chariot…

  4. Joshua 1:5 – intercession everywhere feet trod your cartwheels

  5. I Kings 8:34 – His name on all things…see His face…

SCRIPTURAL PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

  1. Hold hands and arms around Him… appreciate Him in creation. Ask Him questions – “How He sees area / the people” / The earth / The institutions of life / Our future in Him

  2. Sing “God is so Good”

  3. Ask God to show you which face He wants you to see in people /places /circumstances.

  4. You will become a Powerhouse this way!

12) WHILE TAKING WALKS WITH GOD

Biblical Purpose 

  1. Isaac walked and meditated (time with Him) – … good things and His nature.

  2. Creation – whole God language to creation (capacity grows). Growth of life – butterfly, sun, sky, sea, trees, creek etc. Look at the landscapes and creation (and parallel it to your life) / Write down any signs He shows you.

Discuss what you see and how it reveals Him… What you feel about it.

  1. Sing

  2. Pray inTongues

  3. Listen

13) WHILE SLEEPING

Biblical Purpose for sleeping , What happens and How to draw near.

To Hear Him – Job 4:13; tried to talk to you during the day…Dream at night so gives restful, revelation while they sleep.

  1. To see His the faithfulness of His love at night Ps 92:1-2 – Dwell in his love during the day, …Pray for Eph 1:15-17 – the Proclaim Spirit of Revelation to see His faithfulness.

  2. To receive gifts He gives to beloved while she sleeps

Ps 127:2 –Ask for His word in my heart. 

Is 50:4 wake up with word for guidance.

  1. To sleep in peace – Ps 4:8

  2. To develop song in sleep – Ps 42:8, Job 35:10

Ps 149:5 sing aloud in your bed…will draw

  1. For Contentment Ps 3:5 – I lie down & sleep

  2. Being Secure in Him.Ps 23 – lie down & rest / See that He takes care of you…

  3. Remember Your promises on my bed Ps 63:6 –I meditate on you…Show me how I saw you during the day.

HOW TO COMMUNE WITH GOD

  1. Pray / Journal / Record

  2. Just before you go to sleep speak of scriptures above His Love/time/rest then fall asleep ask for His Face at night.  Ask who He is & what He thinks!

To Hear Him – Job 4:12-13; tried to talk to you during the day…Dream at night so gives restful, revelation while they sleep.  Declare the practical patriarchal God who speaks solutions during sleep- there are many scriptures on this!

See His the faithfulness of His love at night Ps 92:1-2 – Dwell in his love during the day, …Pray for Eph 1:15-17 – the Proclaim Spirit of Revelation to see His faithfulness. How did you love and build me today in business?

Proclaim 4 reasons for sleep and then keep a digital recorder by your bed to record your dreams

14) WHEN EXPERIENCING MENTAL BLANKS

Ps 46:10 – be quiet, He speaks…

Ps 25:1-5 – wait on Him all the day.  Handle silence better.

Have short phrases (lists) and confessions

  1. Write a poem about a difficult situation you are in.

  2. Write a poem about your employees

  3. Write a poem about the project you are working on.
